5. Receives transcribes and carries out physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.

7. Provides clear, concise and pertinent direction to care team. Determines work assignments for subordinates based on resources, identified patient care needs and nursing staff skill/level.

9. Assists in data collection in cooperation with Quality Improvement and State Survey requirements.

11. Assessment of Patients: Systematically and continually assesses the health and status of the patientassuring the application of age specific standards.
12. Care of the Patient: In collaboration with the patient/family, with regard to developmental, cultural andage specific differences, develops and implements patient care plans to include problems, goals,evaluations and interventions.

Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, the CVCC will collaborate with the nurses and physicians involved in the care of patients with cardiac diagnoses.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Plans, coordinates, implements, documents, and evaluates educational, exercise and behavioral counseling components of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Assesses teaching/learning needs of patients and families regarding cardiac and vascular rehabilitation.
2. Serves as a resource or consultant to nursing units caring for patients with cardiovascular disease, to the Education Department, and to other hospital personnel.
3. Consults with nursing units caring for patients with cardiovascular disease, Education Dept., and other hospital personnel/units to provide and implement plans of care.
4. Maintains a quality assurance program for cardiac rehabilitation, to include the development/update of policies & procedures related to cardiac rehabilitation, prepares statistical reports and identifies areas for improvement. Serves on committees regarding quality of care issues to help determine appropriate action plans, which relate to Cardiac Rehab.
5. Keeps abreast of the physician utilization of service, their specialty, and specific needs. Coordinates this information with departments and their supervisors to ensure smooth transition of the patient through the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing, with a Baccalaureate Degree in nursing preferred.
Critical care experience with experience in cardiovascular assessment.
Certification in BLS, ACLS, Basic Dysrhythmia Course.
Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of adult education. Supervisory experience is recommended but not required.

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree (BSN) nursing program
RNs hired as of 01/01/2013 that do not have a BSN upon hire must do all of the following:
1. Enroll in a BSN or higher degree nursing program within two years of hire date and submit documentation to facility CNO
2. Complete the BSN or higher degree nursing program within five years of hire date
Note: Verification of high school graduation/GED is required for those who completed
nursing diploma programs.
2. Experience:
A. RN I - None (Must have CNO and Recruiting Director written approval)
B. RN II- Six months clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse
C. RN III- All of the following:
1) One year clinical experience in a licensed RN role within Methodist Healthcare System AND
2) Approval for and maintenance of RN level III through the MHS Nursing Clinical Excellence program
D. RN IV- All of the following:
1) Two years clinical experience in a licensed RN role within Methodist Healthcare System AND
2) Approval for an maintenance of RN level IV through the MHS Nursing Clinical Excellence Program
3) Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
