The Unit Secretary acts as the primary secretarial resource for the Registered Nurse, Unit Supervisor, Director, for the unit. Assists in maintaining stock, ordering of supplies, and other assigned duties. The Unit Secretary directs communication within the nursing unit, assists with entering patient information in the hospitals information systems, and is responsible for the smooth operation of all secretarial functions.
This is a highly visible role with a large degree of physician, visitor, and patient interaction. Job Requirements:
The primary functions of the Emergency Department Biller are accurate patient data entry, billing and clerical duties. The Biller acts as a secretarial source for the nursing staff in the unit, assists with ordering supplies, directs communication within the nursing unit, serves as a patient advocate, enters charges based on chart documentation and is responsible for the smooth operation of secretarial and billing functions.
The position requires knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical terminology as it relates to nursing. The ability to retrieve data from the hospital's information system is required along with the ability to communicate information in both written and verbal forms. The ability to interact with the public and medical staff is required. Written, telephone and manual dexterity skills are required for this position.
Billing experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Job Requirements:
Highest level of education completed
Responsible for scheduling of cases for surgical services as well as serving as a liaison with physicians and their staff in accessing the surgery schedule.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:
Ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
2 years administrative office/secretarial experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated communications and customer service skills, success in organizing work, computer skills, and ability to multi-task.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Preferred BLS.
